A new adventure

We landed in Amman Jordon after 22 hours of travelling, including a 4 hour stopover in Abu Dhabi.

Our friend Neil, who is here working for UniCef, picked us up at the airport.  When in Amman we are staying with him in a very nice complex, complete with three pools.  The landscape in Amman is almost like a moonscape, very hilly and very few trees.

After unpacking and taking a quick walk around local streets we organised to go the The Citadel in downtown Amman.  This area dates back to Roman times and even earlier to the Neolithic period.  There was a very interesting museum as well as several ruins around the area.

We were up at 5:00am the next day for a 4 hour bus trip to Wadi Musa, next to Petra, in the South of Jordan.  After arriving we had a walk around town before going to the Petra visitor centre and museum.  Very hot at the moment and likely to hit 40 on Monday for our first day at Petra.  Wish us luck.
